THE JUST ABOUT STORY

My older brother started skateboarding years before I started. I would watch skate videos and wear skate apparel even before I had really stepped on a board. In my teen years skateboarding was overshadowed by sports, but it always stuck with me. I went to college and dropped out after one year. I soon moved to Brooklyn at age 20. I am a Philadelphia native but lived in Brooklyn as a kid. As a young adult in New York I truly enjoyed the culture and still found time to skate between working. 5 years later I moved to Kailua Kona Hawaii where I worked on a farm and enjoyed the Island life. In the 3 years I was there I saw a lot more companies that were aimed at preserving the environment and giving back to a good cause. The experience helped me appreciate the environment a little more than I had before. At the age of 25 I came up with the idea for JUST ABOUT. It simply means that you will find your way your own way. Your path and your journey are something that is unique to you. Through the ups and downs you’ll always have something new to look forward to as you grow. In my perspective, this idea definitely applied to skateboarding as well. I’ve always loved skate apparel and street wear, but as I decided to dive into the apparel world I realized how wasteful and selective the wholesale industry is. I didn’t want to sacrifice my integrity to buy cheaper wholesale. As a brand I knew I would need a slightly bigger inventory. I wanted a quality product that didn’t take from the environment. A brand that doesn’t take advantage but still supports the industry. JUST ABOUT is 100% recycled skateboard inspired apparel. It’s about finding your own way and having some fun while doing it. We currently sell out of Portland, Maine where JUST ABOUT is distributed.

Help us build a sponsorship program for JUSTABOUT! 10% of our annual sales will go to building a sponsorship program for people who are aspiring skateboards around the world that are less fortunate. our goal is to help as much as possible. This is our first year, but as we progress hopefully we can make a direct change for less fortunate skateboarders and their families.

THE PROCESS

Sustainability

Everybody.World runs on Trash. Since 2016, we’ve been pioneering biodegradable materials turning them into useful, long lasting goods—and in doing so, have repurposed over half a million pounds of waste into the Trash Collection

We invented the yarn using waste from the cotton manufacturing process and forged a traceable supply chain that operates entirely within North America, paring down our footprint and eliminating the use of virgin resources.

The Trash Tee was the first T-shirt on the planet made from 100% Waste Cotton.

After food, fashion is the thing every human on the planet interacts with one way or another. And every ecosystem is affected. This is why hyperlocal matters.

We knit, sew, finish and customize in Los Angeles, where we’re based, keeping our carbon footprint low. In reimaging materials, the supply chain, and consumption we’re able to make some of the most ubiquitous products on the planet without ecological offense and always in fair-wage factories from seed to seal.

(Hyperlocal supply chain, entirely within North America)

Most T-shirts rely on several countries on 2-3 continents to be made. That’s a massive carbon footprint with around 39,000 miles of CO2 emissions in search of the lowest paid workers and lax environmental laws. An estimated 726 gallons of water are used per shirt in growing virgin cotton and manufacturing.

Our world-first 1.0 Trash Tee shrunk emissions by being made in L.A. from 100% Waste Cotton.

For 2.0, we updated the body to a Tubular construction, meaning no side seams for hyperefficient manufacturing.

Compared to the original Trash Tee, each Tubular Trash Tee uses:

~80% less fabric cutting waste
~10% less manual sewing labor
~Less energy consumption

This is Workers, Ecology, Ideas in action. A reimagining of materials, supply chain, and consumption as a whole.
